Black Swan Care Group homes throughout Norfolk celebrate Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style!

Nightingale Lodge Care Home, Hunstanton, Norfolk

At Nightingale Lodge Care Home in Hunstanton, Norfolk our residents were treated to a VIP bank holiday courtesy of the amazing effort of Sandra Rowe (Registered Manager) and her amazing staff team.

Residents were wowed with a fully decorated care home displaying Union flags, bunting, and even dressed to the 9’s with crows, scarves and fun hats!

The kitchen team went above and beyond creating gorgeous sweet-treats for our residents to enjoy, tailored to their likes and tastes.  Residents and their loved ones were treated to a traditional afternoon tea, as well as toasting the Queen and her health with a lovely drop of champagne!

We wanted to thank the amazing team at Nightingale Lodge for making the most of this wonderful occasion, and ensuring our residents had a truly unforgettable experience.  Well done!

The Beeches Care Home

Staff and residents at The Beeches Care Home in East Harling, Norfolk went above and beyond to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style this June – with a garden extravaganza not to be missed!

Complete with live entertainers, fun activities and games, our residents were joined by their family and friends within the grounds of the home to have our first large-scale gathering since prior to Covid19. To see our residents interacting with their loved ones within the grounds of the home was a real treat for all.

This was a hugely poignant celebration for a number of our residents who have fond memories of the Queen’s Coronation and wedding day which were prominent and memorable occasions throughout their lives.

Due to this the home took part in the Queen’s Green Canopy – marking this special occasion by planting a tree in her majesty’s honour alongside a commemorative plaque which will sit in the beautiful homes gardens for years to come.

Residents were treated to an outstanding buffet by chefs Alison and Wendy who went above and beyond creating the most glorious themed cakes for the event, which made everyone’s mouth water.

Kings Lynn Care Home

Staff and residents at Kings Lynn Residential Home in Norfolk were overjoyed with their Platinum Jubilee celebrations in honour of her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne! Some of our residents within the home even remember the Queen’s Coronation, and so it seemed even more poignant to mark this occasion.

Our residents were treated to an amazing buffet lunch made by our wonderful kitchen team, with a selection of homemade sweet treats adapted to our residents tastes and dietary requirements to ensure nobody was left out.

Our residents had a wonderful themed lunch with loved ones, dressed up in crowns and tiaras, and even enjoyed a dance and a boogie to some classic songs from throughout our residents lives!

Our residents also chose to take part in the Queen’s Green Canopy which sees community hubs throughout the country pay homage to her majesty and mark this historic creation by planting a tree and laying a plaque of honour alongside. We hope to see this tree grow into an amazing feature of the homes lovely grounds.

This event brought so much joy to our amazing resident group and we wanted to thank the team at Kings Lynn for all that they do each and every day.

Park House Care Home

At Park House Care Home in Great Yarmouth our residents were treated to a truly amazing celebration in the home to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, recognising her service for 70 consecutive years on the throne!

Residents were excitedly awaiting the bank holiday celebrations in Great Yarmouth with baited breath, readying themselves for the big day by designing custom artwork and decorations to ensure the home was looking it’s very best for the big occasion.

Residents were joined by their family and friends for one of our first open-house events since prior to the Coronavirus pandemic.  Due to the obvious poignance of seeing these events return to care homes, staff went above and beyond at every opportunity to ensure our residents were having an unforgettable and amazing experience within the home.

Staff became entertainers and performers providing entertainment and giving our residents a selection of dance partners – resident Michael was particularly over the moon to be given the opportunity to show off his dancing shoes!

We wanted to thank the staff team for putting in so much effort and making this a truly special occasion for not only our residents, but the wider community.

York House Care Home

Our residents at York House Care Home in Dereham, Norfolk are a wonderful and enthusiastic bunch always up for plastering on a smile and having a good time – so staff felt it was incredibly important to ensure they celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in style with some fantastic events across the week!

In the lead up to the bank holiday our residents took part in craft workshops and designed their own decorations – painting their own Union flags, cutting and sticking their own bunting and covering the dining room in amazing Jubilee themed decorations!

As well as this our amazing kitchen team, led by former pastry chef Sally Easter, created an absolutely breathtaking buffet full of British classics and our residents favourites, as well as a few unique sweet-treats for this special occasion, including scones, fruit salads and cakes!

Activity Coordinators Phoebe and Salma made a brilliant timetable of activities in the lead up to the event, ensuring our residents growing excitement and also their inclusion and integration throughout the planning process to make sure it was exactly how they wanted it to be.

This event brought so much joy to our residents and their loved ones and we cannot thank the staff team enough for all that you do!

Thank you to all of our fabulous staff throughout Norfolk, and the wider Eastern region for your hard work, dedication and commitment to ensure our residents receive the best care possible. Thank you!
