Marjorie Shaw, a resident at Southwell Court care home has raised over £100 for Parkinson’s UK charity.

Marjorie, who is also the resident ambassador at the home on Hinkins Close in Melbourn, designed and produced Southwell Court calendars for 2026. Throughout the year, she took photographs which featured in the calendar and then created the finished calendar on her own computer.

Alongside this, Marjorie and several other residents made beautiful stuffed teddy bears and lavender bags, which were sold at the home’s winter craft fair.

Thanks to these combined efforts, a total of £103.00 was raised for Parkinson’s UK charity. Following her donation, she received a heartfelt email of thanks from the charity, expressing their appreciation for her hard work and generosity.

Lisa King is the Home Manager at Southwell Court: “Parkinson’s UK is a cause that is very to Marjorie’s heart after losing her husband to the illness. Terry also lived at Southwell Court and was cared for here, making this fundraising effort especially meaningful. It was lovely to see her creativity and kindness which reflects the strong sense of community here at Southwell Court.”
