Residents and staff at Maitland House in Clacton have been showing their support for the 75th birthday celebrations of the NHS. The Activities team made nurses’ hats for the residents in the town, with staff wearing them as they carried out their day-to-day roles.

They also played a Human version of the popular children’s game Operation – raising lots of laughs as ‘patient’ Pete Vano, the Maintenance Manager at the home, underwent procedures, by a decidedly unqualified surgeon!

Manager Ann Evans explained: “We have so much admiration for our health colleagues in the NHS and work with them on a daily basis – from GPs, district nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and so many more. We wanted to recognise their 75th anniversary and have a bit of fun at the same time. Fortunately, no real operations needed to take place!”
