Our Care Administration Manager from Drummonds in Feering near Colchester has been shortlisted for an award in the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards.

Leigh Owens works at the home where Black Swan provides support to 45 adults with complex physical and learning disabilities and has been shortlisted in the Frontline Leaders Award category for her support and dedication to the home in 2022.

During 2022, Leigh led the home for three months while Black Swan recruited a new Home Manager, ensuring the home continued to run smoothly – including staff, rota and medication management. Equally once the new home manager was in place, Leigh continued to be a great support, helping her to get to know the residents, learning the systems and processes and getting to know the staff at the home.

Helen Moore is the Manager at the home: “Leigh is extremely knowledgeable and has been a great support to the staff team. I’m so grateful for everything she has done in supporting me and for keeping everything consistent and calm for the residents. She has taken a lead role with the implementation of our new electronic medication system has always happy to go out of her comfort zone. She is totally committed to ensuring Drummonds runs safely and effectively and that residents continue to be at the centre of the care provided. We’re so proud of her for being shortlisted and we have our fingers crossed for the awards night itself.”

The National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards celebrate excellence in the support for people with learning disabilities and aim to pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in providing quality care. The Awards night takes place at the ICC in Birmingham on 30th June 2023.

Good luck Leigh!
